  • Communications Trailer800 MHz Radio System
    The Department of General Services developed and implemented an interoperable communications system to link first responder agencies in emergencies. The 800 MHz radio system allows seamless communications between local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Tornado SirensTornado Sirens
    In 2002, General Services put in place a network of early warning tornado sirens. The 70 sirens are positioned in every area of the county and when activated can alert the entire city of a dangerous tornado.

  • Fleet Management Fleet Management
    As part of an aggressive plan to replace aging and outdated equipment, General Services has purchased over 1200 new police cars, ambulances, fire trucks and other critical public safety vehicles in the last four years.

    Metro’s fleet management has been improved and streamlined through a comprehensive asset management system in 2006 and the consolidation of vehicle maintenance under General Services, eliminating separate fleet operations for Fire, Police, Public Works and other Metro agencies.

  • eBid On-line Surplus Property AuctioneBid Nashville
    The eBid Nashville internet auction program of General Services is one of the first of eBid Nashville's online surplus auction.its kind in the nation. So far over $17 million in revenue has been generated through the online sale of nearly 27,000 surplus and seized property items.
