Mission
The Design and Construction Management group is responsible for managing any new construction, modifications, or improvements for all Metro owned and leased facilities, with the exception of facilities managed by MDHA or MNPS. Design and Construction services that are provided are the following:

Energy Management
- Energy management services to support new and existing construction
- Explore and implement green building energy options on new construction and rehab projects
- Studies to implement energy conservation materials and methods on new and existing buildings
- Utility rates, existing consumption, and available incentives for new and existing buildings
- Plans review for new retrofit projects to ensure energy compliance
Warranty Follow-up
- Capital project warranty issues for duration of specified warranty period with customers and BOSS maintenance supervisors
- Warranty investigation for equipment in new and existing facilities
- Vendor operation and maintenance manuals to maintenance staff
- Extended warranty service/contracts
Sustainable Buildings
The construction and design staff is committed to supporting the Mayor's executive order #033 for environmental sustainability. Staff is available to provide assistance with strategies that support innovative green building practices. We will continue to include green materials in facility projects; prioritize efforts to include renewable energy and energy efficiency; continue our efforts to improve indoor air quality; and include sustainable site development and storm-water management in construction projects.
Furniture Procurements
Interior staff is available for those Metro agencies that are in need of assistance selecting furniture.
Real Estate Management System
The Real Estate Module which is Metro’s Real Estate Management System provides building information, square footage, floor information as well as unit information. Metro utilizes this module to archive current and past projects.
