Holidays

Metro observes 10 official paid holidays. If you must work on holidays, you may be compensated in extra pay or time off at a later date.

Labor Day First Monday in September
Thanksgiving Day Fourth Thursday in November
Day after Thanksgiving Fourth Friday in November
Christmas Eve December 24
Christmas Day December 25

Holidays that fall on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday, while holidays that fall on Saturday will be observed on the Friday before by employees working Monday through Friday.

When Christmas Day falls on a Monday, the Christmas Eve holiday will be observed on Tuesday following Christmas Day. When Christmas falls on a Saturday, the Christmas holiday will be observed on the following Monday.

If a holiday is observed on your day off, you may be scheduled for a floating holiday during the week of the holiday or the following week. If community practice dictates a change in the day observed, the Director of Human Resources has the discretion to change the dates that Metro observes holidays that year.
