Human Relations Commission

Human Relations Diversity Curriculum Designed for the Nashville Police Recruit Training Academy

The Metro Human Relations Commission provides diversity awareness and cultural sensitivity workshops to police recruits, lateral police officers and civilian supervisors of the Metro Nashville Police Department. The Commission's goal in offering such workshops is to provide Nashville Police Department employees with an increased awareness and knowledge base regarding cultural diversity and its implications for culturally competent service delivery for ethnic/racial/cultural minorities.

Through its diversity awareness and cultural sensitivity activities the Commission also endeavors to provide participants with a framework and process for understanding the differences in cultures, cultural and racial socialization, and multiculturalism. During the workshops participants explore how these differences affect our own interactions with people of the same and different cultures.
