Metro Action, which administers Nashville’s Head Start program, is the largest provider of Early Childhood Education in Davidson County. Head Start has approximately 1,485 students enrolled in Head Start centers and partner sites throughout the city. The addition of the new buses is in response to expansion needs of the program as well as a transportation audit funded by Metro Government earlier this year. Three more air-conditioned buses will be arriving in the fall, along with one additional bus that is compliant with the American Disability Act (increases ADA buses to two).Note: Mrs. Croom will also make remarks about our compliance with the recent changes implemented by the Tennessee Department of Human Services as it relates to the new transportation rules. Richland is one of six Head Start locations that have attained the three-star rating, which is the state’s highest rating among early childhood education providers.
