Local Executive Director Appointed State Association President

June 24, 2003 - Cynthia Croom, executive director of the Metropolitan Action Commission (MAC) was appointed as the president of the Tennessee Association of Community Action (TACA) for 2003-04.
TACA represents 21 community action agencies, such as MAC throughout Tennessee. Its primary responsibility is to empower the local agencies through advocacy, training, and technical assistance.
Croom who was appointed by Nashville Mayor, Bill Purcell, has served as executive director of MAC for almost three years.
MAC administers the Head Start program, an early childhood education program for pre-schoolers. MAC also operates the Community Services program. This program includes services such as rent and utility assistance, homeless services, the summer lunch program, and the Adult Basic Education, Job Training and GED programs.
