Metro Action Welcomes Community Action Conference to Nashville

December 1, 2003 - Cynthia Croom, executive director of the Metropolitan Action Commission (MAC) who also serves as the president of the 2003-04 Tennessee Association of Community Action (TACA) will welcome the members of TACA to Nashville for its annual conference beginning on Tuesday, December 2 at the Nashville Marriott Hotel (600 Marriott Drive).

TACA represents 21 community action agencies, such as MAC throughout Tennessee. Its primary responsibility is to empower the local agencies through advocacy, training, and technical assistance.

Conference planners expect about 200 participants at this annual conference.

MAC administers the Davidson County Head Start program, an early childhood education program for pre-schoolers. MAC also operates the Community Services program. This program includes services such as rent and utility assistance, homeless services, the summer lunch program, and the Adult Basic Education, Job Training and GED programs.
