Nashville Police Chief Ronal Serpas to Keynote Metro Action Graduation
Serpas Credits GED For His Successful Career
June 16, 2004 - Metropolitan Nashville Police Chief Ronal Serpas will keynote the Metropolitan Action Commission’s GED Graduation and Awards Celebration on Thursday, June 17 at the Banquet Hall of Nashville, located at 2222 Metro Center Blvd. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m.
Serpas, who has a doctorate in Urban Studies, failed 3rd grade and dropped out of high school in the 11th grade. He credits his success to his GED.
“Without my GED and the support of family and friends, none of this could have happened,” said Chief Serpas.
Approximately 40 students will walk across the stage in cap and grown to receive their GED diploma. An additional 63 students will receive a certificate of completion of the Adult Basic Education Program, College Preparatory Program or the Job Training Program. This is the 14 th year that Metro Action has held this ceremony.
