Executive Director Adds to Metro Action’s Senior Management Team
August 24 , 2004 - Cynthia Croom, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Action Commission, named Marvin D. Cox the new Director of Community Programs of the agency’s Community Services Block Grant and Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Programs (CSBG/LIHEAP).
Cox will lead the division that provides services to eligible low-income residents of Davidson County such as emergency payment assistance for rent/ mortgages, property taxes and utilities. It also provides services to the homeless, the Summer Lunch Program for school-age children, and the fan and air conditioning program for elderly and disabled citizens.
Cox brings a wealth of experience in customer service, program compliance and staff development. Prior to accepting the position at Metro Action, he served as Lead Compliance Auditor for the State of Tennessee’s Division of Charitable Solicitations.
Cox has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Memphis. He is a graduate of the Tennessee Government Executive Institute and served as the Regional Chairman of the Multicultural Affairs Committee of the National Prevention Network.
