Survey Results

Friday, June 09, 2006

Dear Staff of Metropolitan Action Commission,

The survey results PowerPoint presentation (1004KB) are in and I am excited that 90% of staff participated, rating our agency at a 2.47 overall in employee satisfaction on a scale of 1-5. According to the survey results an agency should score between 2.0 and 2.5 to mean the employees are overall satisfied.

The top five areas you ranked as strongest are:

  • Jokes and negative comments of a racial/ethnic or sexist nature are not tolerated in this organization
  • That you make a positive difference in your work environment.
  • That your supervisor establishes open and candid relationships where employees feel free to express their ideas and opinions.
  • That your supervisor understands and relates well to someone with your perspective.
  • That your work is challenging and/or satisfying

The top five items that you want us to improve are:

  • Communication
  • Sharing information openly across all organizational levels
  • Pay
  • Fairness cooperation and mutual respect
  • Teamwork

Thanks to our staff for letting us know what we are doing well and also what we need to improve. Over the last 5 ½ years we have made great strides together, but the survey lets us know the specific areas our staff want us to work on to continue those strides. We are excited about upcoming meetings to go over all the survey details with you and to begin planning with you on how to make improvements in the areas you noted.

Expect information soon on when Metro Human Resources will be visiting our sites to go over the specific results with all of our staff. Afterward you and I together, along with Metro Human Resources, will begin planning meetings for improving and making our agency its strongest.

Thank you all so much for participating in the survey in such large numbers. It confirmed for me what I already know to be true that you care about our organization and you want us to become the best we can be.

Sincerely,

Cynthia L. Croom
