The Metropolitan Action Commission’s Tom Joy Head Start Center will host the 2nd Annual Celebration of Fathers on Wednesday, February 14 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Fathers have been asked to bring their child to school for a special Valentine’s Day Breakfast. Last year over 60 fathers participated.
The National Office of Head Start implemented the National Head Start Institute on Father Involvement in 2004. This institute helps Head Start programs seek opportunities to create activities that strengthen the role of fathers and other significant males in addition to increasing their involvement in the lives of their children.
Tom Joy Head Start is one of eight Head Start Centers operated by the Metro Action Commission. The program serves a total of 1,485 children ages 3 to 5 years old, making it the largest provider of Early Childhood Education in Nashville and Davidson County.
Tom Joy Head Start Center is located at 1901 Lischey Avenue, just off Trinity Lane.
