MAYOR REQUESTS ADDITIONAL DAY OFF FOR METRO EMPLOYEES DURING HOLIDAYS
Civil Service Commission to take up request
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 4, 2008) -Mayor Karl Dean would like Metro employees to have an extra day off from work this holiday season.
Dean has sent a letter to Civil Service Commission Chairman William Farmer requesting the commission grant a day of administrative leave to Metro employees on Friday, Dec. 26. As outlined in the Metro Charter, Metro employees already receive Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as paid holidays from work.
“I recognize this has been a lean budget year for Metro employees, and would like to acknowledge them for the many services they provide throughout the year for the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County,” Dean wrote in the letter.
The Civil Service Commission will take up the request at their next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 8:30 a.m. in the Civil Service Conference Room of the 222 Building on Third Avenue North.
