MAYOR APPOINTS LOCAL ATTORNEY, COMMUNITY ACTIVIST TO SPECIAL ASSISTANT POSITION
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 15, 2009) -
Mayor Karl Dean announced today that Diane Lance, a former assistant district attorney and active community volunteer, has been appointed as a Special Assistant in his office. Lance will work on policy research and on projects related to public safety and community issues.
Most recently Lance has worked as a private attorney and as general counsel for a locally-based real estate investment firm. Before that, she served for five years in the District Attorney’s office, mainly prosecuting crimes against children.
“Diane brings to this office a tremendous knowledge about public safety and a passion for community service and for improving the lives of children,” Dean said. “She’s heavily involved in supporting nonprofits through volunteer service. Her experience will be of great value as this office continues to work on the city’s priorities of education, public safety and quality of life.”
Lance is an active volunteer for the Nashville Children’s Alliance and has served on the organization’s board for the last 10 years, including serving as the board’s most recent past president. She is a former board member for the Rape and Sexual Abuse Center and has served on the review panel for the mayor’s Community Enhancement Grant program for the last two years.
