ORDINANCE NO. BL2014-744
An ordinance approving the form of a license agreement to use Metropolitan Government property for Network Huts by Google Fiber company (Proposal No. 2014M-010PR-001).
WHEREAS, Google Fiber can provide internet access that is up to 100 times faster than basic broadband; and,
WHEREAS, Nashville’s residents and diverse economy including music, healthcare, technology and universities would benefit from the availability of Google Fiber; and,
WHEREAS, Google Fiber needs rights to occupy and use various real property sites owned by The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County with structures that will house network equipment and fiber that are part of Google Fiber’s fiber optic network (“Network Huts”); and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that the form of this license agreement be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The form of a license agreement between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Google Fiber company, attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit A, is hereby approved.
Section 2. Any amendments, renewals, or extension of the terms of the agreement may be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council, as may the authorization of the Mayor to execute the attached, approved form as applied to a specific location or locations.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
