RESOLUTION NO. R99-1436
A resolution honoring Mrs. Lillian Cliff on the occasion of her 104th birthday.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lillian Cliff, a life-long Nashvillian who grew up on First Street in South Nashville, will celebrate her 104th birthday on Thursday, February 25, 1999; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cliff attended Seay-Hubbard United Methodist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Helen Davis Bell, but she also has many friends at Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cliff had two sisters, Roberta and Birgelee, and one brother Elvis, who attended Tuskegie Institute; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cliff still has fond memories of picnics and riverboat rides down the Tennessee River, and a smile appears as she talks about her childhood and the wonderful desserts that her mother always baked; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cliff has resided at Imperial Manor for many years and is fondly loved and cherished by the staff, so much so that they plan to celebrate her birthday at a party on Tuesday, February 23, 1999; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Mrs. Lillian Cliff on the occasion of her 104th birthday and for her outstanding contributions to all citizens of Nashville and Davidson County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mrs. Lillian Cliff on the occasion of her 104th birthday and for her outstanding contributions to the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Mrs. Lillian Cliff.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
