RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-391
A resolution honoring the occasion of the 168th anniversary of Bellevue Christian Church.
WHEREAS, Bellevue Christian Church was founded in 1832, by the late Alexander Campbell; and
WHEREAS, on Sunday, October 15, 2000, the members of Bellevue Christian Church celebrated the 168th anniversary of the founding of the church; and
WHEREAS, to celebrate the joyous occasion, the members were ministered with a wonderful sermon; and
WHEREAS, Bellevue Christian Church began as a small frame church in 1854, housing members of that congregation which stood for over forty years before fire destroyed the building; and
WHEREAS, the sanctuary in which the members of the Bellevue Christian Church now worship was built in 1917; and
WHEREAS, some of the accomplishments over the past years of the church's long and glorious history include: in 1956, a fellowship hall was added, additional land was purchased in 1967 for future expansion of the church building, in 1974 the first fulltime minister was appointed Mr. Earl Caudill, during 1980 the west wing was completed and starting in 1995 Dr. Richard L. Helms serves the congregation as pastor of the church; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Bellevue Christian Church on this special occasion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the occasion of the 168th anniversary of Bellevue Christian Church.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Dr. Richard Helms, on behalf of the congregation.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
