RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-393
A resolution honoring the occasion of the 75th homecoming and anniversary of Saint James Missionary Baptist Church.
WHEREAS, when Saint James Missionary Baptist Church was founded on September 25, 1925, by the Reverend T.T. Radford it had seven members. Today it has over six hundred and fifty members, yet the spirit of the people is still the same; and
WHEREAS, on September 17, 2000, the members of Saint James Missionary Baptist Church celebrated the 75th homecoming and anniversary of the founding of the church; and
WHEREAS, to celebrate the joyous occasion, the members were ministered with a wonderful sermon by National Baptist Convention of America Inc., president Dr. E. Edward Jones; and
WHEREAS, on May 26, 1984, Dr. George T. Brooks, Sr., began serving Saint James Missionary Baptist Church in May of 1984; and
WHEREAS, some accomplishments over the past seventy-five years of the church's long and glorious history include: the development of Christian Education and training of Christian Workers, new ministries, and community outreach programs; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Saint James Missionary Baptist Church on this special occasion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the occasion of the 75th homecoming and anniversary of Saint James Missionary Baptist Church.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Dr. George T. Brooks, Sr., on behalf of the congregation.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
