RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-736
A resolution recognizing the Nashville Fire Buffs - Box 55 Association.
WHEREAS, the Box 55 Association is a group of men and women volunteers that are dedicated to serving and supporting the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department by responding to fire scenes, disasters and rescue incidents; and
WHEREAS, the Box 55 Association mission is to serve firefighters the best we can in responding to scenes as fast as possible to provide drinks and food, and a safe and comfortable place to rest and recoup when the incident is for an extended time; and
WHEREAS, the Box 55 Association purchase supplies with funds received from donations and fund raising events; and
WHEREAS, upon request the Box 55 Association also assists the Metropolitan Police Department on some of their S.W.A.T operations, stings, hostage situations, roadblocks and lost person searches, as well as the Office of Emergency Management during natural disasters; and
WHEREAS, the Nashville Fire Buffs were organized by Chief John D. Ragsdale of the Nashville Fire Department in 1952, now known as Box 55 Association; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize these volunteers who give of their time and energy in making a difference in Davidson County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record recognizing the Nashville Fire Buffs - Box 55 Association.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Walter Pope, President on behalf of the Nashville Fire Buffs - Box 55 Association.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
