RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1032
A resolution recognizing the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee for the month of May.
WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee have been serving area youth since 1903 by providing a safe environment for children and youth from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances; and
WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs provide educational enhancement programs and recreational activities amid an atmosphere that emphasizes leadership, character, citizenship, cultural enrichment and spiritual and social development; and
WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs endeavors are to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantages circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs operate six clubs year round in Davidson County and one in Williamson County; and
WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee will extend its mission to 2,500 Davidson County children each day through the summer beginning in May; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee for their outstanding service to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee for the month of May.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Ms. Amanda Farnsworth, Chairman of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee and Mr. Lloyd Harris, Executive Director.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
