RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-970
A resolution honoring the Vanderbilt University Lady Commodores as the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament 2002 Champions.
WHEREAS, the Vanderbilt University Lady Commodores defeated the Louisiana State University Lady Tigers by a score of 63-48 to win the 2002 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament at the Gaylord Entertainment Center on Sunday, March 3, 2002; and
WHEREAS, this victory made the third time the Lady Commodores have won this tournament title, having won in 1993 and 1995; and
WHEREAS, Zuzi Klimesova was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament and was joined on the SEC All-Tournament Team by Chantelle Anderson; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to honor the Lady Commodores for this championship victory and to express support for their successful future in the 2002 NCAA Tournament.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the Vanderbilt University Lady Commodores as the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament 2002 Champions.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this resolution to be presented to Coach Jim Foster and each member of the 2002 Vanderbilt University Lady Commodores Basketball Team: Chantelle Anderson, Tia Battle, Jenni Benningfield, Juli Colli, Jill Corbett, Jillian Danker, Ashley Earley, Vanessa Ferragamo, Hillary Hager, Zuzi Klimesova, Jutta Korkko, Ashley McElhiney, Abi Ramsey, Katie Smith and Candice Storey.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
