A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission and the Department of Finance to report to the Metropolitan Council regarding the use of general obligation bond proceeds to fund public art projects as provided in Title 5, Chapter 10 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws.
WHEREAS, in May of 2000, the Metropolitan Council enacted Ordinance No. BL2000-250 to amend Title 5, Chapter 10 of the Code of Laws to provide that one percent (1%) of the net proceeds of general obligation bonds issued to fund capital construction projects shall be set aside to fund public art; and
WHEREAS, Section 5.10.020 further provides that if one percent (1%) of a particular bond issue is insufficient to fund a particular public art project, then such bond proceeds may accumulate until they are sufficient to fund a public art project; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council be adequately informed as to the status of these funds designated for public art and their disposition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
