RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-514
A resolution requesting the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau to examine the feasibility of adding an interactive music museum adjacent to or in connection with the County Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
WHEREAS, Nashville is home to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, which has the purpose of preserving and showcasing the history and traditions of country music; and
WHEREAS, Nashville’s role in country music over the years has caused Nashville, Tennessee to be known world-wide as “Music City, U.S.A.”; and
WHEREAS, Seattle, Washington is home to an interactive music museum known as the Experience Music Project; and
WHEREAS, the Experience Music Project is a one-of-a-kind music museum combining interactive and interpretive exhibits to tell the story of American popular music, especially rock ‘n’ roll; and
WHEREAS, Nashville could greatly benefit from the addition of an interactive music museum similar to the Experience Music Project in Seattle that would merge modern technology together with the traditions of country music; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau work in connection with the Country Music Foundation to examine the feasibility of constructing an interactive music museum.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau to examine the feasibility of adding a interactive music museum adjacent to or in connection with the County Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Butch Spyridon, the Executive Vice President of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
