RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-615
A resolution requesting the Tennessee Titans to announce immediately prior to kickoff the location of exits at the Coliseum to be used in the event of a fire or other emergency at all home Titans games.
WHEREAS, the Life Safety Code, as enacted by the State of Tennessee and the Metropolitan Government, requires the operators of all theaters, auditoriums, and other similar facilities with occupant capacity exceeding 300 persons to make an audible announcement prior to the start of each program to notify occupants of the location of the exits to be used in the case of a fire or other emergency; and
WHEREAS, an announcement regarding the location of exits as required by the Life Safety Code is made at the Coliseum approximately thirty minutes prior to kickoff of each Titans home game; and
WHEREAS, many of the 68,000 fans at Titans home football games do not arrive at the Coliseum until after the emergency exit announcement is made; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the location of exits be announced just prior to game time so that as many fans as possible may be informed about how to respond in the event of an emergency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Tennessee Titans to announce immediately prior to kickoff the location of exits at the Coliseum to be used in the event of a fire or other emergency at all home Titans games.
Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Bud Adams, the owner of the Tennessee Titans.
Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
