RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1729
A resolution recognizing the contributions of Nashville's Montessori Schools, and designating February 2007 as Montessori Month in the City of Nashville.

WHEREAS, a system for the education of children from birth through secondary schools, the Montessori program focuses upon providing materials, techniques and experiences that support the learners' natural development and encourages children to "learn how to learn," to gain independence and self-confidence, and to promote the principles of peace and responsible world citizenship; and
WHEREAS, the Montessori Method is based upon thoughtful observation of individual children and includes developmental teaching, one-to-one lessons, and the promotion of respect among the children and peace to humankind; and
WHEREAS, Montessorians around the world will gather in February of 2007 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the first Montessori School; and
