A resolution requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to introduce and support the necessary legislation to require full-time Davidson County elected officials to submit an annual report to the Metropolitan Clerk detailing the dates they worked.
WHEREAS, local constitutional officers including the sheriff, court clerks, trustee, register of deeds, county clerk, and assessor of property are not required to keep track of their time at work and there is no limit on the amount of sick time or vacation days such officials can take; and
WHEREAS, these elected officials each make an annual salary in excess of $140,000 per year, which is funded by the taxpayers of Davidson County; and
WHEREAS, taxpayers deserve to know how much time these elected officials are spending doing the job they were elected to do; and
WHEREAS, recent news reports indicate that a particular full-time elected official in Davidson County has missed an average of six to eight weeks per year from work; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Davidson County full-time elected officials be required to account for the time they spend at work in the same manner as other employees of the Metropolitan Government.
