HISTORICAL COMMISSION CELEBRATES PRESERVATION MONTH

Join the Metropolitan Historical Commission in celebrating National Historic Preservation Month by honoring the 2008 winners of Nashville’s Preservation Awards. Awards will be presented to winners in the categories of Residential, Commercial, Educational and Institutional, and Infill architecture at the annual event being held on Thursday, May 29 at 4:30 pm at the Downtown Public Library. A reception will follow. These events are free and open to the public.

The Metropolitan Historical Commission will also present its Achievement Award to Dr. Reavis L. Mitchell, Jr., Chair of the Department of History at Fisk University and Co-Chair of the Annual Conference on African-American History and Culture. The Metro Greenways Commission and Greenways for Nashville will be honored with the Commissioners’ Award. Please call 862-7970 if you have any questions.
