The step by step instructions for accessing
the Commercial Data.

How to Download Commercial Data

  1. Click on Download Data Now!

  2. Enter Login and Password assigned to you and press OK.

  3. A new page will open with a map showing the Map Sheet Index. At the bottom of the page is a dropdown box with a list of available map sheets. Select the mapsheet desired from the dropdown box. Press the Submit Query Button. You can only choose one map sheet at a time. Once you have pressed Submit Query, one of two possible pages will open (Go to Step 5). If you have not previously downloaded data, a page will open listing your selection and further instructions. If you have previously downloaded data, a page will open warning you that their is data already in your FTP directory (Go to Step 4).

  4. (Previously Downloaded Data): The page will tell you the Map Sheet you have chosen. It will also warn you that there is currently data in your FTP directory. Press the YES button to overwrite the data, press the NO button to cancel. You can only have one Map Sheet in your FTP directory at one time.

  5. The page will tell you the Map Sheet you have selected. The page will also list the files that have been moved to your FTP directory. You cannot do a download directly from this page. NOTE: Once you have reached this page, a entry will have been made in our log file and you will be invoiced for the data. Be sure to download the data before you download another Map Sheet.

  6. To use the FTP service of your choice to download the data: For example, if you have FTP capabilities on your PC, open a MS DOS Command Prompt. Type ftp. Type open www3.nashville.org, you will then need to type in your User Name and Password. Once you are logged in, type dir to show a list of the files in your directory. There will be three files. Type binary. For each file, type get filename (i.e. get topoanno.dxf). To end the ftp session, type quit. One of the files will be zipped using PKZIP. You must have PKZIP installed on your system to open this file. You can download PKZIP from the following site http://www.pkware.com

    From the browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer) of you choice: Type in the address bar: ftp://username@www3.nashville.org
    (ex. ftp://mpccom105@www3.nashville.org). You will then be prompted for your password. Enter your password. Three files will appear in the window. Double click on the file all.zip. You will be prompted as to where you want to save the file. Navigate to the appropriate directory on your system and press Save. For the other two files, highlight the file, then right mouse click. Netscape users select Save Link As. Internet Explorer users select Copy to Folder. Navigate to the appropriate directory on your system and press Save.
    Do this for both topoanno.dxf and topoline.dxf
