Neighborhood Profiles

Rocking chairsAs part of our mission, the Planning Department wants to encourage meaningful public participation. We also assist community efforts to organize residents and do grassroots planning.

What is a Neighborhood Profile?

As part of our service to the community, we are providing a new planning tool: customized map and data packages called Neighborhood Profiles. The information is tailored to each neighborhood boundary (as defined by the community organization) and includes much of the technical information you will need to:

  • Identify neighborhood strengths
  • Identify market trends
  • Identify opportunities for investment & development
  • Assess levels of public service
  • Prioritize needs
  • Increase funding opportunities, and
  • Visualize the possibilities

The new neighborhood profiles include color maps that show local zoning and land use patterns, census tracts, building footprints, property lines, sidewalks, police & fire stations, schools, historic properties, and other features. In addition we compile a housing market analysis that tracks recent trends in home sale prices and building permits. Community groups are encouraged to contact us so that we can customize a Neighborhood Profile for your neighborhood and assist your planning efforts.

Subarea 8 (North Nashville) Planning Neighborhoods

This set of Neighborhood Profiles was developed for the planning neighborhoods that have been established as part of the Subarea 8 (North Nashville) plan update. Planning staff and community representatives worked together to establish the boundaries of the planning neighborhoods. We've put all of them into one section of our website to distinguish them from the other profiles, which are customized for the organizations that request them. For example, one of the other profiles on our website was prepared for the North Nashville Organization for Community Improvement (NNOCI). NNOCI represents all or parts of several North Nashville planning neighborhoods.

For information about the Subarea 8 (North Nashville) plan update, please contact Robert Eadler at bob.eadler@nashville.gov or 862-7167 or Cynthia Wood at cynthia.wood@nashville.gov or 862-7166.
