Nashville Riverfront Concept Plan

riverfrontThe Nashville Riverfront Concept Plan, a 20-year plan for Downtown's riverfront. The Plan is the result of a comprehensive planning effort led by Metro Nashville/Davidson County government and the US Army Corps of Engineers with the assistance of the Nashville Civic Design Center and extensive public input.

The first five-year phase of the plan is already underway - it includes substantial changes to both banks of the Cumberland between the Gateway and Memorial Bridges, including an "urban forest" and tailgating area around LP Field, expanded parks on the East Bank, and a boat landing under the I-24 bridge.

The plan was conceived during a twelve-month series of public forums which began in early 2006.

The Nashville Riverfront Concept Plan emphasizes the importance of the Cumberland River as an environmental, recreational and economic development asset and the recommendations are based on the results received from the public through direct comments and the participation of hundreds of residents during six public workshops and over 100 stakeholders representing government, business and community sectors.
