Transportation's about more than streets and highways - our planners work to create and sustain active, pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use environments, addressing the needs of walkers and cyclists as well as drivers.
The Planning Department also hosts the Metropolitan Planning Organization, or "MPO," which provides long-range transportation planning for cities and counties across Middle Tennessee.
Together, our local planners and the MPO develop plans and strategies aimed at building efficient, sustainable, and accessible transportation systems in the city and the region.
