Workforce Investment Board
Overview
The Workforce Investment Board (WIB) was established by federal law to provide leadership, direction, vision and oversight of a Local Workforce System. Utilizing public resources, its purpose is to assist in addressing the employment needs of employers and the career development needs of workers. The Middle Tennessee Workforce Investment Board (MTWIB) promotes workforce and economic development and youth education throughout our four-county region, Local Workforce Investment Area-9.
The Board is comprised of 40 - 43 volunteer members with a majority representing private sector employers.
The remaining members represent:
- Organized Labor
- Economic and Community Development
- Education
- Community Based Organizations
- Agencies operating within the One-Stop System
The Board is led by Executive, Workforce and Operations Committees as well as a Youth Council that develop strategies for workforce development in our area.
