Mayor Bill Purcell announced plans today for Downtown River Jam, two free music concerts in the city’s Riverfront Park, beginning at 5 p.m. May 24 and May 31.
“We are Music City and I can’t imagine any better way to celebrate Nashville than to celebrate music, and there’s no better place to do it than on the riverfront,” said Purcell.
Downtown River Jam will feature a wide variety of music artists, local and national. The events will be produced by TomKats, Inc., the organizer of Nashville’s Dancin’ in the District events. The concerts will be free and open to the public.
Performing on May 24 will be The Shoals, Minton Sparks, Bone Pony, Johnny Sketch & the Dirty Notes and J.D. Souther with Rod McGaha and Jeff Coffin. The concert line-up for May 31 will be Brother Trouble, Pam Rose & Friends, The Features, Jimmy Hall & Jack Pearson with Special Guest Barry Scott, and Donna the Buffalo.
Downtown River Jam is sponsored by Celebrate Nashville partners, First Tennessee Bank, Purity Dairies, AT&T, HCA, Wal-Mart, WSMV Television and The Tennessean.
“I look forward to bringing this free music event to Riverfront Park,” said Tom Morales, president of TomKats. “This is an opportunity for Nashvillians to hear some great music, enjoy good food and have fun in our downtown.”
