Partial Activation Of Metro’s Emergency Operations Center Underway

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has called for a partial activation of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) effective 2:01 p.m. CDT in response to a developing severe weather situation.  The operational period will last until 10 p.m. CDT. 

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Davidson County that has since expired and a tornado watch remains in effect until 8 p.m. CDT.  Metro OEM staff is monitoring the weather situation and damage reports across Davidson County.

At 4:15 p.m., emergency crews reported a possible tornado touchdown in the 1100 block of Kermit Drive near Vultee Boulevard.  Nashville Electric Service reports over 1,000 customers are without power in Davidson County at this time. 

Metro agencies activated are:  Police, Fire, Public Works, Metro Water Services, Emergency Communications Center, OEM, General Services, Business Continuity, Building Management and Metro Planning Commission.

Updated information will be released from the Emergency Operations Center as it becomes available.
