NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro Office of Emergency Management (OEM) called for a partial activation of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) effective 8 a.m. CDT Thursday in anticipation of cases of the 2009 H1N1 Influenza Virus being confirmed in Davidson County.
Nashville Mayor Karl Dean met with emergency management policy group leaders Wednesday afternoon to review the most current information from the state regarding the H1N1 Influenza Virus and determined Metro’s EOC will be partially activated Thursday morning.
Metro agencies activated at this time are Health, Emergency Management, Police, Sheriff’s Department, Fire, Metro Water Services, Metro Legal, Information Technology Systems, Metro Schools, Metro Transit Authority, Airport Authority, General Services, Business Continuity and Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).
The Metro Health Department has established a community hotline at (615) 340-7775 for citizens to call with questions and up-to-date information related to the H1N1 Influenza Virus.
A press event will be held later today with members of the media to make Mayor Dean and Dr. Bill Paul, Director of Public Health, and others available for comments and questions. Details are forthcoming.
