Update - Debris Cleanup and Damage Assessments Underway

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the threat of severe weather expired in Davidson County, Metro’s Emergency Operations Center remains partially activated until midnight while field crews assess local storm damage and clean up debris from roadways.
Metro Office of Emergency Management responders and volunteers are currently conducting damage assessments across the county, assisting with removing light debris from roadways and standing by on down power lines. Approximately eight homes in the 700 block of Battle Road have significant storm damage and several access roads are blocked. No injuries have been reported and the Red Cross has been dispatched to assist home owners.
Metro Public Works crews have been dispatched and will work through the night conducting debris clean up from area roadways and neighborhood streets.
Metro Nashville Police Department held over all day shift officers until 7 p.m., as well as another 10 special-assignment officers, to assist with the backlog of pending calls including trees and power lines across roadways.
OEM crews will also monitor area creeks and tributaries. However, no flooding is anticipated as a result of the weather system.
Nashville Electric Service still reports over 70,000 without power. Crews are out working to restore power as soon as possible.
