Metro's Emergency Operations Center to Partially Activate at 11:30 A.M. Due to Severe Weather

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has called for a partial activation of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) effective 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in anticipation of a dangerous weather system that is expected to bring severe storms capable of producing heavy rain, flash flooding, damaging winds and strong tornadoes beginning Tuesday evening and continuing through Wednesday.
The National Weather Service and Storm Prediction Center have placed Metro Nashville under a moderate risk for severe weather Tuesday night through Wednesday until the cold front moves through the area. A flash flood watch for Davidson County is also in effect through Wednesday evening. The National Weather Service is predicting rain fall totals could reach 5-6 inches in the Nashville area. Metro OEM staff is monitoring the developing weather situation with assistance from the National Weather Service.
Agencies activated at Metro’s EOC are: Office of Emergency Management, Police, Fire, EMS, Public Works, Metro Water Services, Emergency Communications, Information Technology Services/Desktop Support, Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, Metro Public Schools, Metro Planning, and Nashville Electric Service. Representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the National Weather Service will also staff the EOC.
