Shelby Golf Course: Frequently Asked Questions
- Are you a public Golf Course?
Yes, we are a municipal golf course owned by the Metropolitan Government of Davidson County.
- Do you require tee times?
No but it is recommended that golfers reserve a tee time for their own convenience. However we do make accommodations for walk-ups. It usually takes less than thirty minutes for us to get you on the golf course.
- Do you have a dress code?
Appropriate golf attire is required. Tank tops, cut offs, tattered clothing, and halter-tops are not allowed.
- How difficult is your golf course?
The slope rating from the white tees is 109-course rating is 67.8-5725 yards. The slope rating from the blue tees is 110-course rating is 68.2-6079 yards. It is a short course with small mounded greens that places a premium on accuracy.
- Do you have a driving range?
No the only practice area we offer is the practice putting green.
- Do you have riding carts?
Yes
- Do you allow walking?
Yes but it is discouraged. Due to the severe topography very few people are able to enjoy walking our course.
- Do you rent clubs?
Yes we have 4 sets of men’s clubs, one set of left handed clubs, one set of women’s clubs and two sets of junior clubs available on a first come first serve basis.
- Do you have a restaurant or snack bar?
We have a self-service snack bar that offers a variety of sandwiches, snacks and drinks including beer. We do not sell tobacco products.
- Do you offer lessons?
No
- Do you have golf club repair?
No
- What is the minimum age requirement?
New policy :
Children between the ages of five (5) and eleven (11) years of age will be allowed on the eighteen (18) hole golf courses as a player, spectator or caddy, if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Younger golfers must be able to keep up with the pace of play. Children four (4) years of age and under will not be allowed on the eighteen (18) hole golf courses. Children younger than five (5), accompanied by a parent, may be allowed on the nine-hole golf courses at the discretion of the management.Management has the right to deny access to any child who is disruptive or not being properly supervised by a parent or guardian.
