Have Fun With Your Dog!

Walking and playing with one’s dog has long been among the most popular reasons to visit a Metro Nashville park. While leashed dogs are welcome in all Metro Parks, Metro’s Dog Parks are a great place for dogs to exercise, socialize and play. Dog owners may derive similar benefits!

Dog Park Hours!

  • Warner Dog Park is open from dawn to dusk.
  • Shelby Dog Park is open from dawn to 8:00 PM.
  • Centennial Dog Park is open from dawn to 8:00 PM.
Dog Management Information and Dog Park Rules

Across the country, parks departments are having to trim their budgets and the Metro Parks and Recreation Department is no exception. While we will continue to plan and execute programs and activities, mow the grass, trim trees, patrol parks and collect and dispose of trash along with the many other wonderful services we provide, one of the cost cutting measures we have taken is not replenishing the "mutt mitt" dispensers in several park locations.

We looked at the best ways to maintain essential Park services while ensuring that citizens continue to enjoy our parks with their canine companions. This one reduction will save over $25,000 annually, plus the cost of staff hours to service the dispensers. We will, however, continue mutt mitt service at all the Metro Dog Parks.

This was a difficult decision to make. However, these are difficult times and we all have to make sacrifices that in better times would be a non-issue. We encourage visitors to help us keep our parks clean and healthy by bringing their own waste collection bags to pick up after their pets.

We know our visitors will understand this decision. In the meantime, we will pursue outside resources to provide this service.
