Crime Prevention Tips

Personnel safety is a paramount concern of the Metro Park Police. The simple safety tips listed below are designed to aid you in your daily routine. Personal safety starts with you!

  • Be alert and aware of your surroundings.
  • Look for individuals or actions that “seem out of place.”
  • Use your judgment and instincts…act on “this just doesn’t seem right…I have a bad feeling.” It is always better to be safe than sorry.
  • Carry a cell phone and be aware of you location
  • Have your keys in you hand before you approach your car
  • Check the area around you car and make sure it is safe prior to approaching
  • Be mentally prepared and review in your mind steps that you would take to prevent, avoid or defend yourself if you should become a victim of crime
  • When possible, enjoy the parks with a friend
  • Don’t hesitate to call the police…Remember, it is always better to be safe than sorry…
