Mayor's Office of Environment and Sustainability
On April 1, 2010, Mayor Karl Dean announced the creation of a new Office of Environment and Sustainability to work with Metropolitan Government departments and the broader community toward the goal of making Nashville “the greenest city in the Southeast.”
The Mayor’s Office of Environment & Sustainability exists to help develop and expand green initiatives focused on reducing waste, increasing energy efficiency, conserving open space and protecting natural resources, and providing Nashville residents with information and resources to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
