Why are we undertaking this project?
At approximately 4:30 am on January 9, 2010 Metro Water Services became aware of water main breaks in the downtown area. The lines failed as a result of the extreme cold weather. Water main breaks occurred at these locations:
- 24" main break in Broadway between 3rd and 4th Avenues
- 24" break in 2nd Ave North (in front of Wildhorse Saloon)
- 24" break in Broadway between 1st and 2nd
- 36" break in intersection of Broadway and 2nd Avenue
The cast iron water pipes will be replaced with new ductile iron water pipe.
