Art and Nature Adventures

West Nashville and Bellevue areas in Districts 20, 22, and 24

The artist Elizabeth Sanford was awarded $2700 to implement her project Art and Nature Adventures. This project uses art as a portal into the wonders of nature; it's designed for children 5-12 and their families. The artist will be working with the Bellevue and Richland Park Branches of the Nashville Public Library to provide art activities that encourage exploration of the easily accessible kind of nature found in a typical backyard or in neighborhood parks like those surrounding both Branches. In April and May of 2017, each Branch will host an Art & Nature Adventure Day and a later workshop with the same theme; these will engage participants with family-oriented art and nature activities while sparking interest in checking out other library resources, including the new Art & Nature Adventure Kits.
