Brooklyn Heights Community Garden- Outside of the Box Project

Northeast Nashville by American Baptist College in District 2

Nella Pearl Frierson with The Brooklyn Heights Community Garden was awarded $4000 to engage the Northeast Nashville community in art making and nutritional learning with the Outside of the Box project. Under the facilitation of Nella Pearl Frierson and Corey White, the community will engage in wholistisic eating workshops and visual art workshops. The community will be facilitated through the process of designing and painting the Garden boxes at the Brooklyn Heights Community Garden, while simultaneously learning about the benefits of gardening and eating clean. This project will occur every 3rd Friday and Saturday of every month and will include the local middle school less than a mile down the street as well as other neighbors of North Nashville. On March 18, there will be a community showcase of art and presentations from the community to bring awareness to gardening and eating clean.
