The purpose of the Green Procurement Initiative (GPI) is to assist Metro Government agencies implement strategies to prevent waste and pollution by considering environmental impacts along with price, performance, product safety, and availability when evaluating solicitation offers for products and services.
Metro Nashville's Procurement Division adopts the following policies and procedures as part their solicitation and contracting process:
- To incorporate environmental considerations in the evaluation process.
- To increase its fleet of energy efficient vehicles.
- To encourage the selection of sustainable products.
- To seek the selection of recycling and repurposing solutions.
While the Procurement Division is committed to these objectives in the development of specifications, the consideration of the solicitations, and the incorporation of performance requirements in contracts, Metro's departments, agencies, and commissions are the driving force to ensure that the initiatives are realized. We exist to serve those departments.
