Project Purpose

The purpose of this project is to improve timely and appropriate care and reduce incarceration of mentally ill patients in crisis by improving the performance ability of Nashville’s 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Services Center (at the Mental Health Co-operative (MHC)) to serve as a viable and expedient source of emergency psychiatric care. The proposal seeks support to:

  • Improve speed and capacity
  • Build ability to provide basic medical services
  • Make facility more safe and secure and reduce requirement for prolonged police escort
  • Increase public awareness of mental illness and how to seek emergency care
