Special Events often require multiple permits from the Fire Marshal’s Office. These permits may include: Special Event Fire Watch, LPG (propane), Tents and Pyrotechnics.
Permit Requirements for Special Events
The Fire Marshal’s Office has a staff member that is a part of the Special Event Committee operating under the direction of the Office of Film & Special Events - Public Works Department (This Office of Film & Special Events oversees the coordination and permitting process for all filming, special events, parades and street banners in the Nashville & Davidson County area). Events that require street closures or the involvement of Metro Government Departments require specific permits.
Events that may require a Special Event Fire Watch may include event that close down essential streets and bridges, cooking demonstrations, large numbers of participants/spectators, large occupancy tents without fire protection equipment, etc. (i.e. July 4th, New Year’s Eve, CMA Festival).
