Breast and Cervical Cancer Year-Round Screenings in Nashville and Davidson County

The Metro Public Health Department coordinates the Tennessee Breast and Cervical Screening Program (TBCSP), a comprehensive screening program available year-round throughout Nashville and Davidson County for medically underserved women. The primary objective of the program is to increase the number of women who receive breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to detect these cancers early. All services are offered free of charge to eligible women through contracted screening/enrollment health care sites located in Nashville/Davidson County. To assist with treatment of breast or cervical cancer, including precancerous conditions, women are referred to TennCare/Medicaid or referred to an agency/program that provides financial assistance.

To take advantage of these women's programs, you must:

  • be a Tennessee resident
  • be uninsured or underinsured
  • be at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level – check the 2017 Federal Poverty Level Guidelines table for more information
  • be 50-64 for mammograms (primary target)
  • be 40 to 49 if personal/ family history/suspicious lump; 18 to 39 if symptomatic
  • be 40 to 64 for Pap tests (primary target); 21 to 64 diagnostic referral

Women seeking eligibility information call 615-340-0391 about the free screening services or women can call one of the screening/enrollment sites to schedule an appointment.

If you are uninsured, meet income guidelines and 40-64 years of age, you may be eligible for a free screening mammogram and/or Pap test. You must be enrolled at one of these sites to be eligible for services.

All screening/enrollment provider sites provide referrals for breast and cervical diagnostic services in accordance with approved Tennessee Breast and Cervical Screening Program guidelines.

Some screening/enrollment sites will require that you establish as a patient before enrollment in the breast and cervical screening program. They will assist you to navigate all of your healthcare needs.
