The Neighborhood Academy is new program to Nashville beginning in March of 2021. The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods and Community Engagement intend to host Neighborhood Academy every year from March to September.
Neighborhood Academy serves as a relationship between the people and Metro Nashville City Government by engaging, equipping, and empowering residents to participate in and influence our city’s governmental processes, programs, services, and policies in ways that will strengthen our neighborhoods.
Within our curriculum, we strive for participants to be able to re-discover our city’s civic processes and programs, to identify issues impacting our neighborhoods, to comprehend how change happens in our neighborhoods, and to gain additional knowledge of how to recommend public policies that influence neighborhoods.
We are committed to exploring various levels of local government, encouraging collaboration and partnership with various departments of Nashville government, and connecting with civic leaders who are currently working with initiatives impacting neighborhoods.
