National Night Out Against Crime

On this page, you can register your neighborhood or community event for the National Night Out Against Crime. This unique crime/drug prevention effort sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). In past years, over 37 million people participated in the National Night Out Against Crime to raise awareness about crime and to build relationships with local law enforcement. Nashville neighborhood groups and community organizations are encouraged to plan Night Out Against Crime events for members and local residents. NATW provides an online toolkit with resources on how to plan a successful event.

2018 Dates: August 7, 2018 and October 9, 2018

National Night Out Against Crime is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

We will deliver brief remarks at 7:15. If our precinct officer or another rep from Metro or the Fire Department can't come, our recently-formed Neighborhood Watch committee will address the party.

A fire dept. rep would be particularly nice because we recently had an alarm where only 5 people left their units, as well as accidents in recent years and an uptick on crime and false alarms, so this would be a great opportunity to address that overlapping fire/police issue.
