Head Start and Early Head Start Income Eligibility Guidelines

2019-20 Federal Income Guideline

Acceptance to the Metropolitan Action Commission's Head Start and Early Head Start programs are based on income eligibility. Families desiring to enroll their children into the Head Start or Early Head Start Programs, must meet the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Below you will see the chart that is used to determine income eligibility.

Family Size

  • Family size 1: $12,490
  • Family size 2: $16,910
  • Family size 3: $21,330
  • Family size 4: $25,750
  • Family size 5: $30,170
  • Family size 6: $34,590
  • Family size 7: $39,010
  • Family size 8: $43,430

For families/households with more than 8 persons, add $4,420 for each additional person.

Eligibility for Children with diagnosed disabilities

If your child has a diagnosed disability and has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) that affects their learning ability, your child may qualify for enrollment in Head Start regardless of household income.
